BUSINESSES DON'T PAY TAXES!
(they just collect them for the government)

**************************************************

What? You don't believe that! Let me draw you a simple example.

Suppose we happened to live in a society where there were no taxes of any kind. In this society there is the Widget Company (guess what they make) that, on a year to year average, makes a 15% net profit.

All of a sudden the government decides to impose a 15% tax on all businesses.

The Widget Company now has two options. It can decide to go out of business because it now makes zero profit, or it can raise its retail prices to cover the cost of the new taxes.

Where does the increased revenue come from? It comes from the Widget Company's customers, of course, in the form of increased retail prices. That's where all business revenue comes from.

Where does the increase in revenue go? To the government, of course!

In the end the Widget Co. makes no more profit than it did before the tax increase and is now acting as a tax collector for the government.

Ultimately, it is you that pay these "business taxes".

The retail customer always pays this cost because he is the end-user which has no way of passing this added cost along to someone else.

The moral: Beware of any politician who says the government needs more money and proposes to tax not the individual taxpayer but the big evil businesses instead!
(Because, in reality, what's the difference? - TB)

Any politician who does say such a thing either (1) knows the true effect of "taxing businesses" and chooses to say this anyway, or (2) doesn't know the true effect. In both cases this should be proof that this is a person that should not be holding elected office because in case #1, he is a liar, or in case #2 he is ignorant of the true effect of taxing businesses.

Either way this is a person that should not be holding public office.
